Chinook, Columbia River, WA (Guide)

Chinook on the Columbia River offers excellent fishing for salmon, sturgeon, steelhead, walleye and shad from shore or small boats with outgoing tides concentrating fish near structure channels and the river mouth for stronger bites. Check current WDFW regulations before heading out.

Public boat ramps at Chinook Marina and the nearby Ilwaco area provide convenient launches slips fuel and access to the Columbia River but the river currents and nearby Columbia River bar are extremely dangerous. Experienced boaters cross on the flood tide when possible. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

Chinook's waterfront and nearby river beaches deliver calm sand for family picnics shore casting low tide exploration and scenic views of the Columbia River making it a popular destination for fishing families and shore activities in southwest Washington.

Lower Columbia River Chinook Area Boating

Overview of boating near Chinook on the lower Columbia River including Port of Chinook ramps and nearby access for fishing, crabbing, and river exploration. Close to the river mouth with strong tidal influences, currents, and opportunities for salmon/steelhead runs.
