Cumberland Island Wharf on Cumberland Island delivers reliable fishing for redfish flounder and pompano from the wharf or small boats with lower tides revealing flats for excellent sight fishing. Boat ramps near the wharf and St Marys area support kayaks and small craft for sound exploration. Beaches at Cumberland Island National Seashore and the wharf area provide pristine sand for family picnics swimming shelling and shore casting with wild beach views. The national seashore island setting makes it ideal for tide timed nature and fishing adventures.

Positioned near the Cumberland River and Sound the dock experiences notable tidal fluctuations that reveal more shoreline at low tide and support activities like beachcombing shore fishing and exploring the islands maritime forest and marshes. Tidal influences in the Cumberland River and nearby waters create dynamic conditions with changing depths and exposed features at low tide making it great for timing visits to observe birds manatees or enjoy quiet paddling and shore activities after docking. Note occasional closures during managed hunts or events but generally supports exploration of the islands historic sites and natural beauty with park fees required.
