Fort Clinch (Guide)

Fort Clinch at the mouth of St Marys River offers excellent surf and jetty fishing for redfish, black drum, whiting, flounder, sheepshead, and sea trout along the Atlantic shoreline and St Marys Inlet. Lower and outgoing tides expose productive structure and troughs for stronger bites from the park beaches and jetties. Check current FWC regulations before heading out.

Public boat ramps including Dee Dee Bartels ramp and Egans Creek ramp provide convenient launches for small boats targeting additional species in the river and inlet but strong tidal currents in St Marys Inlet require careful planning for safe navigation. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

Fort Clinch State Park beaches deliver excellent low tide shelling, shark tooth hunting, and beachcombing with historic fort views and scenic trails making it a popular destination for fishing and family outings on the north end of Amelia Island.
