St Augustine, Matanzas River (Guide)

St Augustine on the Matanzas River offers excellent fishing for redfish snook speckled trout and sheepshead from shore piers or small boats with tidal flows concentrating fish near structure and the inlet. Check current FWC regulations before heading out.

The St Augustine City Marina and public boat ramps provide convenient launches slips and fuel for river and Intracoastal Waterway trips but strong tidal currents require careful planning for safe navigation. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

The historic waterfront with the Bridge of Lions and nearby Anastasia Island beaches deliver excellent walking picnics and low tide exploration with views of the Castillo de San Marcos making St Augustine a top historic and boating destination on the Florida coast.
