Larrabee State Park (Clayton Beach) (Tide Pool)

South of Bellingham along Chuckanut Drive in Larrabee State Park, the rocky shores and honeycombed sandstone formations at Clayton Beach and Wildcat Cove reveal excellent tide pools during minus tides. Families can spot purple sea stars, aggregating anemones, hermit crabs, chitons, snails, and small fish among the boulders. Short trails provide easy access; requires a Discover Pass, with playgrounds and picnic areas nearby for a full family day.

Chuckanut Bay Marina (Other)

Small private marina in Chuckanut Bay on Samish Bay with moorage slips, boat launch ramp, and access to the bay for recreational boating, kayaking, and fishing. Supports local small craft and charters with views of the bay and Chuckanut Mountains; tidal currents and shallow bay channels require caution for safe docking and navigation, especially at low tides when mudflats expose.

Clayton Beach Larrabee State Park (Other)

Public beach access at Clayton Beach in Larrabee State Park on Chuckanut Bay with parking, restrooms, trails, and rocky/sandy shoreline for walking, beachcombing, shore fishing, and tide pooling at low tide. Offers views of the bay and Samish Island; strong tidal currents and waves affect safety so check tide charts for safe exploration and avoid high surf.

Padden Creek Boat Launch Chuckanut Bay (Other)

Public boat launch ramp at Padden Creek near Chuckanut Bay (south Bellingham area) with trailer parking and access to Samish Bay for small boats, kayaks, and fishing. Convenient for exploring Chuckanut Bay and nearby waters; tidal flows and shallow channels require caution for safe launches and navigation, especially at low tides.
