Tacoma (Guide)

Tacoma along Commencement Bay in southern Puget Sound offers strong boating facilities and marinas for exploring the area and accessing broader Sound waters. Fishing is productive for salmon flounder and other species from boats or piers with favorable tides improving opportunities near structure. Beaches and waterfront parks provide spots for recreation and some shellfishing in season where permitted. Nearby trails and urban attractions round out the options for visitors using tide charts to time their water based activities safely.

Public beach and shoreline access at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma with sandy/rocky shores, parking, restrooms, trails, and picnic areas for walking, beachcombing, shore fishing, and low tide tide pooling.
