Constellation Park (Tide Pool)

In West Seattle near Alki, this small urban beach at the south end of Constellation Park provides convenient tide pooling without leaving the city. Rocky areas reveal aggregating anemones, purple and ochre sea stars, hermit crabs, sculpins, and small fish at low tide. A hidden gem for quick family explorations with easy street parking and nearby paths; tide timing aligns with Seattle-area charts.

Discovery Park (Tide Pool)

Seattle's largest park features dramatic rocky bluffs and beaches along Puget Sound with solid tide pools about 20 minutes from downtown. Explore for sea anemones, purple urchins, ochre sea stars, small fish, and crabs in this natural setting. Trails lead to the shoreline; family-friendly with lighthouse views and ample space for kids to roam safely during minus tides.

Seattle, Washington (Guide)

Seattle on Puget Sound is a major boating and fishing hub with excellent salmon runs for chinook and coho from shore piers and small boats around Elliott Bay and the Duwamish River. Lingcod rockfish and flounder are common near structure with moving tides stirring bait while Dungeness crabbing is popular in the bays. Check current WDFW regulations before heading out.

Public boat ramps and marinas including the large Elliott Bay Marina and Shilshole Bay Marina provide convenient launches slips and fuel for day trips and longer cruises but strong tidal currents in the Sound require careful planning for safe navigation. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

Alki Beach Park in West Seattle delivers wide sandy beaches for swimming picnics and low tide shore fishing with views of downtown. Discovery Park offers dramatic rocky bluffs and beaches with productive tide pools while Constellation Park provides easy urban tide pooling at the south end of the park. Golden Gardens Park adds excellent low tide beachcombing and shore casting.
