Bellingham, Washington (Guide)

Bellingham on Bellingham Bay offers excellent fishing for chinook coho salmon Dungeness crab lingcod rockfish and flounder with outgoing tides concentrating fish and crabs near structure in the bay and channels. Shore and pier fishing at Marine Park in Fairhaven and the Squalicum Harbor waterfront are popular while small boats target deeper spots. Check current WDFW regulations before heading out.

The large full service Squalicum Harbor Marina and public boat ramps at Marine Park and the city launch provide convenient launches slips fuel and bait with easy access to the bay and San Juan Islands. Strong tidal currents around the bay require careful planning for safe navigation. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

Marine Park in Fairhaven delivers sandy beaches for picnics swimming and low tide exploration with productive tide pools while Larrabee State Park offers rocky shores tide pools and scenic trails for beachcombing and hiking with views across the bay.

In Bellingham's Fairhaven district, this easily accessible urban beach offers gently sloping shores with abundant tide pools at low tide. A top family spot revealing sea stars, anemones, crabs, nudibranchs, sand dollars, and small marine life; nearby picnic facilities, free parking, and proximity to the Marine Life Center (with touch tanks) make it ideal for educational outings with kids.
