Bandon Beach (Tide Pool)

On Oregon's southern coast near Bandon (about 4.5 hours from Portland), Bandon Beach is famed for its dramatic sea stacks and expansive rocky outcrops that create rich tide pools at low tide. The intertidal zones reveal a tapestry of life including purple sea stars, giant green anemones, urchins, chitons, mussels, barnacles, crabs, nudibranchs, and small fish amid the iconic "face rock" formations. Highly family-friendly with easy beach access, parking, picnic areas, and nearby old town amenities; one of the coast's most photogenic spots - arrive during minus tides for best exposure and watch for sneaker waves.

Bandon, Oregon (Guide)

Bandon on Oregons southern coast offers excellent surf and jetty fishing for surfperch, lingcod, rockfish, greenling and cabezon with moving tides stirring bait around the jetties and Coquille River mouth for stronger bites. Check current ODFW regulations before heading out.

Public boat ramps at Bandon Boat Basin and the nearby Coquille River provide convenient launches slips fuel and access to the bay and nearshore waters but the Coquille River bar is dangerous with strong currents and swells. Experienced boaters cross on the flood tide when possible. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

Long sandy beaches at Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint Bandon State Natural Area and nearby Coquille Point deliver excellent walking beachcombing low tide exploration and scenic views of sea stacks making Bandon a top destination for fishing families and shore activities on the Oregon coast.
