Wrightsville Beach (Guide)

Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington offers excellent surf and pier fishing for redfish, pompano, flounder and sheepshead from the iconic Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier with lower tides exposing structure for stronger bites. Check current NCDMF regulations before heading out.

Public boat ramps at Wrightsville Beach and the marina provide convenient launches for kayaks and small craft into Masonboro Inlet and the Intracoastal Waterway but strong tidal currents require careful planning for safe navigation. Wrightsville Beach (North End / Masonboro Inlet) (Tide Pool)

In Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington (about 2.5 hours from Raleigh), the north end near Masonboro Inlet and jetties forms temporary tide pools and rocky flats at low tide with crabs, barnacles, periwinkles, small fish, and marine invertebrates.
