Tidal ranges expose mudflats sandbars and shallow areas at low tide creating ideal conditions for targeting inshore species like red drum speckled trout and flounder from shore or small craft while observing birds and wildlife in the estuarine habitat. Quiet access with limited facilities provides a serene complement for combining land based or paddle activities with tide awareness and appreciating the calmer western side of the Outer Banks barrier island.
