Ke'ei Beach Tide Pools (Tide Pool)

Ke'ei Beach south of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island features rugged black lava rock formations that reveal fascinating tide pools at low tide, brimming with small tropical fish, crabs, sea urchins, and invertebrates in a serene, less-crowded setting. This scenic spot offers clear waters and opportunities to spot dolphins offshore, making it ideal for peaceful exploration. Kealakekua Bay (Guide)

Kealakekua Bay on the big island supports excellent fishing for papio ulua goatfish and trevally from kayaks or small boats launched at nearby ramps with slack and incoming tides concentrating fish around the bay reefs and drop offs for better success. Protected waters suit kayaks and small craft for exploring the historic bay while the calm conditions favor families. Nearby beaches at Kealakekua Bay and Napoopoo Beach Park feature clear waters for swimming snorkeling and shore activities with dramatic cliffs as backdrop.
