Kamaole Beach Park III (Tide Pool)

Kamaole Beach Park III in South Kihei, Maui, has rocky ends exposing vibrant tide pools at low tide filled with hermit crabs, small reef fish, sea urchins, and mollusks in protected pockets ideal for kids. Lifeguards, amenities, and soft sand make it highly family-friendly - combine with swimming or picnicking during morning low tides.

Keawakapu Beach Tide Pools (Tide Pool)

At the northern end of Keawakapu Beach in Wailea, Maui, expansive sandy shores give way to rocky outcrops forming calm, shallow tide pools at low tide - perfect for families spotting hermit crabs, small reef fish, sea cucumbers, and urchins in protected pockets. This long, golden beach combines excellent swimming with gentle intertidal discovery, often with stunning views of Lanai and Kahoolawe. Parking is convenient - ideal during morning low tides when winds are lighter.

La Perouse Bay Tide Pools (Tide Pool)

La Perouse Bay in South Maui, within the Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve, showcases ancient lava flows creating rugged, remote tide pools teeming with marine life like colorful fish, moray eels, corals, and octopuses in crystal-clear waters. This historic area, named after the French explorer, offers dramatic scenery and excellent snorkeling amid volcanic rocks. Access requires caution on uneven terrain - reservations may be needed. Visit at low tide and respect closure signs to protect this fragile habitat.

Maluaka Beach on Maui delivers solid fishing for papio ulua and threadfin from the sandy shore or small boats with incoming tides bringing fish closer to the reefs and improving bite action. Nearby boat ramps in the Wailea area support kayaks and day trips. Beaches at Maluaka Beach Park and nearby Makena Beach offer golden sand ideal for family outings picnics swimming and shore fishing with views of Molokini. Popular public beach on south Maui known as Turtle Town featuring a wide crescent of golden sand calm waters access for swimming snorkeling sunbathing picnics and relaxation with excellent views of Molokini Crater and the Pacific Ocean. Renowned for frequent Hawaiian green sea turtle sightings especially during low tide when turtles rest on the nearshore reef or sandy bottom making it ideal for shore viewing photography and respectful observation of marine life.
