Beach Hazards Statement issued June 13 at 8:55PM PDT until June 19 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS San Diego CA

* WHAT...South swell from 190 degrees with a period of 14 to 16
seconds will generate surf of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 7
feet along south-facing beaches along with high rip current
risk. San Diego County surf will be slightly lower, but
hazardous swimming conditions still exists due to high rip
current and longshore current risks.

* WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County
Coastal Areas.

* WHEN...Through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous swimming conditions with high rip current
and longshore current risk. If you become caught in a rip
current, yell for help. Remain calm and do not exhaust
yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help. If you have
to swim out of a rip current, SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE and back
toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim
directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.

Cabrillo National Monument (Tide Pool)

At the tip of Point Loma in San Diego within Cabrillo National Monument, this protected rocky intertidal zone is one of California's most visited and well-preserved tidepool areas - drawing hundreds of thousands annually. The sandstone cliffs and depressions expose diverse pools filled with anemones, sea stars, urchins, chitons, limpets, mussels, shore crabs, California sea hares, lobsters, octopuses, and small fish at low tide. Family-oriented with guided ranger programs, easy trails from the visitor center, historic lighthouse views, and educational exhibits; entry fee required but worth it for safety and interpretation. Optimal in winter for daylight minus tides - tread lightly to protect this fragile ecosystem.

Popular destination with ample parking picnic areas and proximity to attractions making it ideal for relaxing bayfront time and appreciating Coronado scenic harbor setting.

Coronado Shores Beach (Other)

Public beach along the Silver Strand in Coronado featuring wide sandy shoreline access for swimming sunbathing walking picnics and low tide beachcombing with views over San Diego Bay toward downtown and the Coronado Bridge. Great for family outings shore fishing relaxation and enjoying coastal breezes where tidal cycles expose more intertidal zones and create varying water conditions for safe wading and beach activities. Ample parking restrooms and proximity to the bay make it a top spot for combining beach time with tide watching and appreciating this iconic Coronado coastal stretch.
