Spud Point Marina and public boat ramps provide convenient launches slips fuel and full service facilities for bay and coastal trips but strong tidal currents and bar conditions require careful planning for safe navigation. Always confirm current marine conditions in the NOAA NWS Forecast section displayed above.

Doran Regional Park Beach and Salmon Creek Beach deliver wide sand for family picnics beachcombing and low tide exploration with scenic coastal views making Bodega Bay a popular destination for fishing boating and recreation on the northern California coast.

Shell Beach (Sonoma Coast) (Tide Pool)

Just north of Bodega Bay in Sonoma Coast State Park along Highway 1, Shell Beach is a top family-friendly tidepool destination with easy stairs from parking to a sheltered cove of rocky shores and boulder fields. At low tide, explore pools brimming with aggregating anemones, purple and ochre sea stars, hermit crabs, chitons, limpets, mussels, barnacles, sculpins, and a wide variety of colorful algae - often with docents from Stewards of the Coast providing guided education in spring/summer. Scenic and less crowded than southern spots; free parking pullouts nearby, picnic areas, and trails for hiking. Best during minus tides - sturdy shoes for slippery rocks; watch waves carefully.
